RE Teaching and Learning Resource

Resources for Early Years – KS3/S3

Speak Up or Stay Silent?

This new resource has been produced to support teaching and learning in the RE curriculum. It has been written to fit with ‘faith in action’ questions explored in many RE/RME/RVE curricula and has been designed to be flexible to fit with different national contexts. The learning activities will contribute towards the development of theological literacy and understanding. Speak Up or Stay Silent? is not designed as a complete RE scheme of work but, rather, offers units of work and a range of resources to help pupils explore Christian views about justice – reflecting on how faith and belief impacts the lives of individuals and communities. The resource uses a range of critical thinking and learning activities to help pupils:

  • make connections;
  • engage in research and creative tasks;
  • develop empathy and respect;
  • engage in active listening;
  • reflect on, and talk about, their own values, beliefs and worldviews.

The resource includes:

  • Units of work for Early Years – KS3/S3
  • Resource sheets
  • A pupil research leaflet
  • A photo pack containing 21 global images with case studies and reflective questions
  • A world map and sorting activity

The units of work, resource sheets and pupil research leaflet can be downloaded from this page.  The photo pack, research leaflet and map can all be ordered from Christian Aid.

To order a free printed copy, please email christianaid@mosaic-fs.co.uk requesting the Speak Up or Stay Silent photo pack, quoting item reference F5006 or the research leaflet 'Christian Aid - Our Work' quoting F5007.
