Get Scotland’s climate progress back on track in 2025

We are at a pivotal point in Scotland’s climate journey. The Scottish Government must take fast and fair action to get Scotland’s climate progress back on track.

Reducing Scotland’s domestic emissions is significant in helping our global neighbours who suffer from the climate crisis, particularly when they did little to cause this problem.

At Christian Aid, we will continue to join other organisations who are part of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland to put pressure on the Scottish Government to prioritise urgent climate action.

We once set ambitious climate targets in Scotland, but a lack of action over the past few years has led to targets being abandoned and uncertainty in Scotland’s journey to net zero.

Ultimately, 2025 brings concrete opportunities to make much needed progress on climate action. Action that inspires hope and leads to a greener, fairer, healthier nation. Action that plays a key role in global efforts and limits the devastation being caused by rising temperatures.

Together, we can show political leaders that people in Scotland want climate action, as this will help our health, jobs, and planet.

We are joining other organisations calling for action to:

  • Make cleaner, greener travel easier for everyone
  • Make our homes warmer and cheaper to heat
  • Look after our land and seas in ways that work for people and nature
  • Create and support good green jobs and transform our economy
  • Deliver a fast, fair phase out of fossil fuels
  • Accelerate investment and fair funding for climate action

Write to your MSPs now and add a personal message about why climate action in Scotland matters for communities around the world, who have done little to cause the climate crisis, but are facing increasingly severe extreme weather.
